EA SPORTS FC 27 is kicking off its Ultimate Team cycle with Team of the Week 1, bringing the first performance-based special cards of the new season. The opening TOTW arrives at an important time, as players begin building their first squads, exploring the Transfer Market and preparing for FC 27 Early Access. For those looking to strengthen their starting budget and target new TOTW cards on the market, Z2U also provides a marketplace to Buy FC 27 Coins from different sellers.
TOTW is also changing in FC 27. EA has introduced a new Season 1 upgrade structure, Community Player voting and Holographic versions of eligible special items. Meanwhile, a 23-player TOTW 1 lineup has circulated ahead of launch, reportedly headlined by Lamine Yamal, Melchie Dumornay and David Raya.

Individual ratings and positions may still change if the final in-game squad differs from the reported lineup.
Lamine Yamal is the biggest name in the reported squad. His 91-rated RW card would make him the highest-rated player in FC 27 TOTW 1.
Reported attributes include:
87 Pace
85 Shooting
88 Passing
94 Dribbling
40 Defending
63 Physical
Technical PlayStyle+
The standout is clearly 94 Dribbling. Combined with 87 Pace and 88 Passing, Yamal looks built for close control, chance creation and attacking from wide areas.
His 91 OVR is also important under the new Holographic system. Eligible special cards rated 88 or higher can appear as Pristine Holographic Items, meaning Yamal meets the rating requirement for the higher Holographic tier.
Melchie Dumornay is reportedly receiving an 89-rated card with an attacking combination of 93 Pace, 86 Shooting and 91 Dribbling.
That combination could make her one of the most dangerous attacking options in the opening weeks of Ultimate Team. Her 89 rating also meets the threshold for an eligible Pristine Holographic version.
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya is another reported 89 OVR card. His goalkeeper attributes are particularly balanced, including 88 Diving, 88 Handling, 89 Kicking, 89 Reflexes and 88 Positioning.
Reports also list Far Reach PlayStyle+ on Raya's card.
The highest-rated cards will attract most of the attention, but several lower-rated players could also become useful early-game options.
Felix Nmecha, 86 OVR: A balanced midfielder reportedly combining 84 Pace, 85 Dribbling, 84 Defending and 89 Physical.
Marcus Thuram, 86 OVR: His reported 87 Pace, 84 Shooting and 83 Physical create an appealing striker profile.
Lucy Bronze, 86 OVR: Offers 86 Defending and 88 Physical, with Jockey PlayStyle+ also appearing in reports.
Gabriel Martinelli, 83 OVR: His reported 90 Pace and 84 Dribbling could make him an interesting early-game wide attacker despite the lower overall rating.
Their actual Transfer Market value will depend on supply, chemistry, PlayStyles and how the early FC 27 gameplay meta develops.
EA has officially changed how Team of the Week upgrades work during Season 1.
| Base Rating | TOTW Upgrade |
|---|---|
| 83 OVR or higher | +1 OVR |
| 78–82 OVR | +2 OVR |
| 77 OVR or lower | Upgraded to 80 OVR |
This structure gives lower-rated real-world performers more meaningful boosts while preventing already elite cards from increasing too quickly.
EA has also indicated that TOTW upgrade rules can evolve later in the FC 27 cycle, so the Season 1 structure should not necessarily be considered permanent.
One of FC 27's biggest Ultimate Team additions is the Holographic Item system.
Starting with TOTW 1, eligible Campaign, TOTW, Hero, ICON and other special Player Items in the FUT Pack pool can appear as Holographic versions.
EA divides them into two tiers:
87 OVR and below: Regular Holographic
88 OVR and above: Pristine Holographic
Based on the reported ratings, Yamal, Dumornay and Raya all meet the OVR requirement for the Pristine Holographic tier.
However, a high rating does not mean every copy of the card will automatically be Holographic. These are special versions of eligible items that can appear through Store Packs and Reward Packs, with tradeable versions potentially appearing on the Transfer Market.
Packs or Player Picks that guarantee a fixed group of specific Player Items will not contain Holographic versions.
This adds another layer of rarity and collecting value to TOTW cards beyond their normal gameplay attributes.

Another major change is the introduction of Community Player voting.
For each of the first six TOTW squads in Season 1, the FC community can help influence one Community Player selection.
Players can:
Vote for one eligible footballer each week.
Change their vote before voting closes.
Use an EA Account to confirm their selection.
Participate during the first six TOTW squads of Season 1.
One important detail is that the highest community vote does not automatically guarantee selection. EA states that the final Community Player is determined using both EA and community votes.
Selected players will carry a special Community Player marker.
FC 27 expands the role of Team of the Week through several connected Ultimate Team systems.
The new FUT Gallery includes a Team of the Week Rarity Set. Gallery History can also retain records of eligible items after they leave a player's active Club, giving collectors another reason to acquire different TOTW cards.
Champions Tokens return as well, and EA has confirmed that the Champions Token Store can offer Team of the Week Players with an exclusive Red Item design, alongside Evolutions, Celebrations and other rewards.
TOTW performances can also influence Ones to Watch cards. An OTW Player Item can receive a +1 OVR upgrade when the real-world player earns an eligible Team of the Week, Star Performer or Player of the Month item.
That means weekly TOTW selections can have consequences beyond the cards released that week.
FC 27 TOTW 1 looks set to provide an interesting start to this year's Ultimate Team cycle. The reported squad is headlined by 91-rated Lamine Yamal, followed by 89-rated Melchie Dumornay and David Raya, while cards such as Felix Nmecha, Marcus Thuram, Lucy Bronze and Gabriel Martinelli could provide useful alternatives during Early Access.
More importantly, FC 27 changes what TOTW means for Ultimate Team. The new Season 1 upgrade structure gives lower-rated players stronger boosts, Community Player voting introduces greater fan involvement, and Holographic Items add a new rarity layer to eligible TOTW cards.
With TOTW also connected to FUT Gallery collections, Champions rewards and Ones to Watch upgrades, the weekly promotion has a broader role in FC 27 than simply introducing another set of boosted players.
With Early Access and the full launch approaching, players who have not yet picked up the game can also pre-order Cheap EA FC 27 CD Key for Standard, Ultimate or Ultimate Plus Edition through Z2U, depending on the edition and available marketplace offers they prefer, before jumping into Ultimate Team and experiencing TOTW 1 for themselves.
