Battlefield V is a first-person shooter game developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. It is the eleventh main installment in the Battlefield series and the successor to 2016's Battlefield 1, and was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One on November 20, 2018. The game is based on World War II and is a thematic continuation of its World War I-based precursor Battlefield 1.
Battlefield V is focused extensively on party-based features and mechanics, scarcity of resources, and removing "abstractions" from game mechanics to increase realism. There is an expanded focus on player customization through the new Company system, where players can create multiple characters with cosmetic and weapon options. Cosmetic items, and currency used to purchase others, are earned by completing in-game objectives.
Company Coin: As you play and progress through the game, take on Daily Missions, and some Special Assignments, you’ll earn Company Coin. This in-game currency gives you the ability to choose items outside your base progression path to further customize your Company. Company Coin also allows you to unlock cosmetic items like jackets, facepaint, weapon skins, and more. At launch, cosmetics were only available for soldiers and weapons, but with the release of Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture, they’re now available for vehicles as well.
Battlefield Currency: It’s not currently available but will be able to be purchased with real world money. This type of currency will be exclusively for cosmetic items and will not give players any in-game advantage.
What Battlefield Currency typically allowed players to do in Battlefield V:
Purchase Cosmetic Items: Battlefield Currency could usually be used to buy cosmetic items, such as weapon skins, character outfits, vehicle skins, and emotes. These items didn't impact gameplay but allowed players to customize their characters and gear.
Accelerate Progression: Some games offer the option to use premium currencies like Battlefield Currency to accelerate progression by purchasing experience boosters or other similar items. These items could potentially help players level up or unlock new gear faster.
Buy Special Packs or Bundles: Game developers often create special packs or bundles that include multiple cosmetic items or other in-game content. Players could use Battlefield Currency to purchase these bundles, which might offer a better value compared to buying individual items.
Unlock Tiers in Battle Passes: Some games, including Battlefield V, have a Battle Pass system. Players can earn rewards as they progress through tiers of the Battle Pass. Battlefield Currency could sometimes be used to unlock tiers instantly or purchase premium versions of the Battle Pass.
Purchase Elite Soldiers or Classes: In some games, premium currencies can be used to unlock elite soldiers or special character classes. These characters might come with unique abilities or cosmetics.
Revive or Resupply: Depending on the game's mechanics, players might be able to spend premium currency to get back into the action more quickly. This could include respawning, replenishing ammunition, or healing.
