Nearly a decade after its original launch, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands has received a major new update. Ubisoft released Last Rites on August 6, 2026, bringing a new story mission, expanded gameplay customization, free legacy rewards and the return of the Predator crossover mission. The renewed interest surrounding the update may also encourage players to seek Cheap Ghost Recon Wildlands Credits when expanding their selection of in-game customization items.
Last Rites is more than a technical upgrade. It gives returning players new reasons to revisit Bolivia while allowing newcomers to shape the campaign around a more realistic, forgiving or demanding tactical experience. The update is free for existing owners, so players do not need to buy the new Definitive Edition to access its main features.

The update's headline addition is Last Rites, a standalone, story-driven mission accessible directly from the main menu. Players do not need to complete the original Santa Blanca campaign before starting it, making the new content easy to reach for both returning veterans and first-time players.
The mission sends the Ghosts into a darker part of Bolivia controlled by Los Penitentes, a fanatical group led by La Llorona. After being betrayed by people she trusted, La Llorona turns her anger toward those connected to her past, including the corrupt Bolivian government and Unidad.
Her masked followers surrender their individual identities as a sign of complete devotion. As the Ghosts move through the region, they discover evidence of the cult's violent methods and influence over the local population.
What begins like a familiar Ghost operation gradually becomes more unsettling. Environmental details, documents and audio recordings reveal more about La Llorona's history and the motives behind Los Penitentes.
Ubisoft also created new characters, dialogue, sound effects and a dedicated musical theme for the mission. The original English cast returned to record additional dialogue for Nomad and other major characters.
Ubisoft has not published an official average completion time. Any precise claim about how many hours the mission takes should therefore be treated as an estimate rather than confirmed information.
Last Rites addresses one of the community's most requested improvements by adding 4K and 60 FPS support on PS5 and PS5 Pro.
The higher frame rate makes aiming, driving and close-range firefights feel smoother and more responsive. The resolution upgrade also improves visual clarity across the game's large open world, making distant terrain and environmental details easier to see.
The update is available on PS4, Xbox and PC as well, but Ubisoft's confirmed 4K and 60 FPS statement specifically applies to PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Because Ubisoft has not released a complete platform-by-platform technical analysis, the update should not be described as delivering native 4K at a permanently locked 60 FPS on every system.
PC users receive additional quality-of-life improvements, including the correct PlayStation button prompts when using a DualSense controller.
Ghost Parameters introduce several realism-focused rules into regular PvE play without forcing players to accept every restriction associated with Ghost Mode.
The available options include:
Tactical reloading: Reloading a partially used magazine discards the ammunition left inside it.
Primary weapon limit: Players can carry either one or two primary weapons, making specialized squad roles more meaningful.
Custom revive rules: Revives can be disabled, limited to a specific number or set to unlimited.
These settings support everything from relaxed cooperative sessions to high-stakes tactical operations where ammunition management and a single mistake can determine the outcome.
The option to carry only one primary weapon is especially significant for players who want more believable loadouts. Instead of carrying weapons for every possible situation, each squad member must commit to a clearer combat role.

The new Custom difficulty option lets players adjust individual combat systems instead of relying only on preset difficulty levels.
Players can independently modify:
Enemy firepower
Enemy endurance
Enemy perception
Vehicle durability
Health regeneration delay
This allows players to create a tougher but more believable experience. Enemies can remain vulnerable to accurate shots while dealing much greater damage to the player, for example.
Stealth-focused squads can increase enemy perception without simultaneously making every opponent unusually durable. Players who prefer prolonged firefights can adjust enemy endurance while leaving detection settings at a more forgiving level.
The result is a more flexible difficulty system that lets players decide exactly where the challenge should come from.
World and Session Settings give the host direct control over campaign conditions. The selected rules apply to everyone in the cooperative lobby, although some changes may require the world to reload.
Players can adjust or lock the time of day and weather. This makes it possible to conduct every operation at night, maintain constant rainfall or combine darkness with severe weather for a specialized infiltration experience.
Patrol density and Unidad's maximum alert level can also be changed. Additional options cover:
Mortars
Alarms
Signal jammers
SAM launchers
Friendly fire
Destroyed SAM sites can remain disabled for the current session instead of quickly returning. This gives players a stronger sense of permanently weakening enemy defenses during an operation.
Friendly fire can also be enabled, encouraging more careful positioning, communication and shooting discipline in cooperative play. Ubisoft notes that this setting can even support limited player-versus-player scenarios inside the campaign.
Wildlands previously treated AI teammates as an all-or-nothing option. Players could either use the full computer-controlled squad or disable AI teammates completely.
Last Rites replaces that limitation with Team Composition, allowing players to bring zero, one, two or three AI squad members.
This change creates several new tactical and role-playing possibilities. Players can:
Operate completely alone
Form a sniper-and-spotter pair
Create a compact three-person reconnaissance team
Deploy the complete four-member squad
It also allows every AI teammate to serve a clearer purpose without forcing players to fill every available squad position.
The update adds toggles for grenade trajectories and interaction shaders. Players can hide the projected path of throwable items and remove the glow used to highlight ammunition crates, objectives and other interactive objects.
Ubisoft has also corrected situations in which disabled HUD elements still provided audio clues. When enemy identification markers are turned off, the associated reconnaissance sound no longer reveals information the player intentionally chose to hide.
These changes may appear small, but they are useful for players who want to rely more heavily on observation, communication and environmental awareness.
The main menu now includes direct access to Last Rites. Character customization has also been reorganized with clearer categories, including Iconic Skins, Saved Outfit Presets and a separate Operator Skins section.
The fan-favorite Predator crossover mission, The Jungle Moved, is once again available in Caimanes Province.
The mission was previously removed after its original licensing period ended. Its return gives both longtime fans and newer players another opportunity to experience one of Wildlands' most memorable crossover encounters.
Ubisoft has retained the original mission's challenging hunt and final confrontation. The Jungle Moved must be launched from the regular campaign and cannot be played from within the separate Last Rites experience.
Completing the mission unlocks the Predator Bio-Mask along with returning challenge rewards such as face paint and several Predator-themed arm tattoos.
The paid Predator Pack has also returned to the in-game store. It includes the Predator Helmet with its special thermal-vision effect and Predator Wristblades with an exclusive close-quarters finisher.
The Jungle Moved mission itself is free, but the premium Predator cosmetics are sold separately.

Last Rites restores access to a large selection of older rewards, including content that had become difficult or impossible to obtain.
Notable additions include:
Free Scott Mitchell and John Kozak skins that were previously paid content
Previously unreleased camos such as Snow Digital, Snow Wood, Carbon Fiber, Jungle Netting, Blood and Grey Python
Returning challenge rewards, including the Ghost Recon Skull Parachute, Snow Mountain camo and PenCott GZ camo
Mercenaries and Guerrilla Mode rewards unlocked by default
All Ghost War classes available to unlock for free through the in-game store
The Ghost Recon Unit Est. 2001 anniversary set available by default
Campaign Daily Challenges have been removed because the update's extensive gameplay settings could conflict with their requirements.
Instead of permanently removing the rewards connected to those expired challenges, Ubisoft has made the former rewards available through other means.
Battle Crates and Prestige Crates are no longer sold, although crates obtained before the update can still be opened.
Ubisoft has also removed the daily store rotation. Items are now arranged in clearer categories, and more content can be purchased directly without waiting for a particular pack to return to the store.
Some items previously restricted to crates have been moved into lower-priced Collections, while others are automatically available to all players.
Two new paid packs, Cold Eye and Nightfall Protocol, add Operator Skins and other items. Both packs are included with the new Definitive Edition and its upgrade package, but they can also be purchased separately.
Last Rites gives Ghost Recon Wildlands a surprisingly substantial revival. The new mission expands the story, 4K and 60 FPS support improves the PS5 experience, and the restored Predator crossover brings back one of the game's most memorable limited-time encounters.
The most meaningful additions, however, are the customization tools. Ghost Parameters, custom difficulty, world controls and flexible AI squad sizes officially support tactical playstyles that fans previously created through self-imposed rules.
Players can now combine limited weapons, dangerous enemies, restricted revives, fixed weather, friendly fire and smaller teams without relying on a single unforgiving mode.
Last Rites does not completely remake Ghost Recon Wildlands, but it modernizes the experience and gives players more control over its open-world operations than ever before. Returning veterans can explore new content and more flexible ways to play, while those who want additional customization options may choose to Top Up Ghost Recon Wildlands Credits from Z2U platform before heading back into Bolivia. For newcomers, the update makes 2026 one of the best times to experience the game for the first time.
