The upcoming expansion The Edge of Fate marks the beginning of Destiny 2's eighth year of content, and it comes with more than just a new storyline. Bungie is revamping how players experience new content by moving away from the once-a-year expansion model. Instead, Guardians will now receive two major expansions per year, complemented by a smaller, free update between them. According to Bungie, these expansions will resemble Rise of Iron, the 2016 expansion for the original Destiny, in terms of size and breadth.

Release Time for The Edge of Fate
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate officially launches on July 15th, but don't expect to jump into the action as soon as the clock strikes midnight. As with all Destiny 2 expansions, a server maintenance window is scheduled before the content goes live. Maintenance begins at 4:00 AM PDT (7:00 AM EDT), with the servers going fully offline at 5:45 AM PDT (8:45 AM EDT).
The patch for the expansion will be accessible for download on all platforms at 6:00 AM PDT (9:00 AM EDT). This gives players time to prepare and install the update before the servers go live. Assuming everything runs smoothly with no unexpected delays or technical issues, The Edge of Fate will officially go live at 10:00 AM PDT (1:00 PM EDT).
Players should keep in mind that previous releases, such as The Final Shape, experienced server stability problems at launch. Bungie is hoping for a smoother rollout this time, but early access players should be prepared for possible delays. If all goes according to plan, the full maintenance window is expected to wrap up by 12:00 PM PDT (3:00 PM EDT).
This expansion will also bring significant updates to some of Destiny 2's core systems, including the introduction of World Tiers for Kepler and adjustments to the Portal feature.
Raid Launch: The Desert Perpetual
A brand-new raid, titled The Desert Perpetual, is scheduled to unlock on July 19th at 10:00 AM PDT (1:00 PM EDT). This gives Guardians four days to complete the campaign, gather stronger gear, and prepare for one of the toughest challenges in the game. While Bungie has not yet disclosed the Power level requirement for the raid, players will be required to finish the campaign to gain access.
The Edge of Fate is set to kick off a new era for Destiny 2, bringing more frequent content drops, fresh systems, and exciting new challenges for Guardians to conquer.
